BC Paragliding offers comprehensive beginner and novice courses as well as advanced training for certified pilots. We do our training in various areas including the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Savona, Vancouver Island and Saltspring Island. Our courses include ground school modules, written tests, ground handling, launching and flying exercises and skills. 
All our instructors are experienced and certified by our national organization HPAC. Our instructors are active in the flying community and passionate about flying and teaching.  We will help you through every stage of your personal learning curve.

Instructors with experience

Gord has 25+ years of free flying experience. He started hang gliding competitively while studying engineering at UBC, eventually achieving a 2nd place in the US Nationals. 

He started paragliding 10 years ago and now fly’s approximately 200 hours per year, taking passengers on tandem flights and doing solo cross country flights, mostly in BC and Mexico. He is also an active general aviation pilot. 

Beginner course

Our beginner course includes and exceeds the requirements for an HPAC P1 certification. At the end of this course most people will have 5 or more solo flights. The course usually takes 4 good flying days to complete. Previous experience is not required. We supply equipment for you to use while doing your beginner training. 

Cost: $1200 (inc GST)

The Beginner course is included in the novice course. As a novice student you will need to have your own gear. We recommend that you purchase new or used equipment through us. We will steer you towards the purchase of gear that is tailored to your needs. 

Our novice course takes you to the point where you are certified P2 pilot and can start to fly safely on your own, with other certified pilots, without the direct supervision of your instructor.  This includes 25 solo flights where you will advance all your basic skills, learn reverse launches, and touch on extending the duration of flights by thermalling and ridge soaring. 

Cost:  $2600 (inc GST, buy our gear)

         $3100 (inc GST, bring your gear)

We fly whenever the weather is suitable, 7 days a week. We encourage students to dive in and train as intensely as possible but understand that some students may only be available on weekends.
We always make it work!
